420

UNS #S42000

420 stainless is a hardenable 12% chrome steel with higher strength and hardness and better wear resistance than 410. It is corrosion resistant and offers high strength at room and moderately elevated temperatures, accuracy in heat treatment, and mirror-like finishes without chrome plating. This alloy is also noted for its cleanness and uniformity and is used for long-run molding jobs by providing good protection against corrosive hazards due to machine shutdowns and storage between runs, plastic compounds, and humid climates.
