High Expansion 22-3

High Expansion 22-3 is an austenitic and nonmagnetic iron-nickel-chrome high expansion alloy that has thermal expansion properties higher than any of the alloys in the Type 300 stainless series. It can exhibit yield strengths greater than 125 ksi. One of the principal high thermal expansion alloys used in the bimetal industry, it is utilized in applications requiring a ferrous alloy with a high coefficient of thermal expansion. Oxidizes readily at high temperatures, this alloy is usually annealed in protective atmospheres or vacuums.
